Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Mostly better than expected news

I was pleased with the 5% vs what folks were saying on this site around 10%-20% or higher.

And another 5000 next quarter in May. And 4K to 5K in every subsequent quarter as has been happy since Nov 2023. Wake up and smell the coffee. Recognise the trend. They are normalising quarterly LRs , desensitising people about it. Get ready.

It's 5% this time. It's going to be another 5% next quarter. And again. Till literally no work gets done. No features, no bug fixes other than urgent PSIRTs, no decent TAC support. Then what's the plan, oh great ELT thinkers?

Red badges have been getting cut since August last year...there aren't many left in my neck of the woods

Seems like most of the replies are from EX Cisco employees

This is such an absurd comment. No wonder Cisco is filled with childish, brainles- employees like this guy.

This time merely 5%, but more to come in several months. Get ready! It will be your turn.

Better than expected for who?
It's bad for those who are let go.
It's bad for those who stay because they have to pick up all the work
Stop being self centered. This is wave 1....more to come in two months. The people who will get LR'd aren't feeling it's better than expected. >

Good news would be growth. Cisco hasn’t seen actual growth in over 5 years.

Red badges are not employees. Stop acting like you are.

5k is just blue. Red are being cut silently, so the overall loss of staff is much larger than 5k.

is that 5000 blue or a combination of red and blue?

Yeah, company being in such a sh---y situation that we have to say goodbye to 5,000 of our colleagues is great news. 🙄
