Anyone doubting whether HR is on the employee's side can just go out and watch the SIBG layoff announcement from last week. Certainly a toss-up for which exec sold more of their soul during the recording of that latest heartwarming episode of the 3M miniseries telenovela (or is it a docu-drama?).

It’s funny that there was a separate thread posted on how HR doesn’t respond to ethics violations submitted through their system. No names mentioned, but HR clearly asked the admin to remove.

Oh, look. A supervisor defending himself in here. Hahaha! I wonder if realizes they're actually the sh-t employee and so insecure with themselves that they have to go after good employees. You need to be demoted. Back to eating twinkies in your office dood. No one respects you. Hahaha!

My HR in Singapore ignores my emails.
My IT in Singapore closes the IT ticket for issues unresolved.
Brilliant.

I have filed two ethics complaints. Had the control numbers saved, screen shots of completed and submitted complaint. 2 Weeks later I followed up and was told they did not exist. I laughed. I did get a call back from the Chief Ethics guy at the time and he wanted to know what happened. I told him it was not worth it, but I facetimed the phone to show him the completed print outs. I knew to drop it.

I've been on the other side, so I can tell you complaints (at least some) do get investigated. HR once contacted me out of the blue and began asking me some very specific questions about some past interactions. HR never said so, but it was clear a certain person had filed a complaint against me, basically saying I was out to get them for no reason. Luckily i had an electronic trail to which I could point HR that showed the opposite, where for that the things he claimed I did to discriminate against him, I had in fact done the opposite. The reality was that he su-ked as an employee.

I was there and can tell you that harassment is very hard to prove. In my situation, my manager told me "I have nothing for you here. You should look for a position elsewhere". As a consistent 4+ rated employee throughout my career, I was given busy work and excluded from knowing about projects within my group. The problem started when IT brought in a person as a director that had no experience managing a large, global department, but was given the position so he could move to the next level. The guy literally held only one group meeting, sat in his office and waited out his time. The lower level managers, all vying for his job ran a muck. My physical and mental health was so stressed I couldn't sleep at night and could barely tolerated the work day. I went to HR.....they did nothing to support me. Luckily, the organization changed and I got a new manager and the old manger ended up leaving. Up to that point, I had a great career in various businesses. IT was the most toxic environment I had ever experienced. True story.

My manager filed a complaint with the Ethics “hotline” and they transferred the case to HR. HR did not even talk to the people, like me, that witnessed my manager being harassed/abused and dismissed the complaint.

I would like to know how many people reported workplace harassment to HR and Ethics over the past 5 years or more. Maybe a class action is needed? I am not even sure how that works. As someone noted, litigation is the only thing that gets 3M’s attention.

Workplace harassment can trigger mental health issues. These issues can affect one’s ability to work. There must be a lawyer in Minnesota who can help everyone who has been abused and harassed by senior 3M leaders to the point their mental health is negatively affected take legal action.

I really like my manager and it hurts me so much to see HR ignore abusive behavior which affected my manager’s heath.

EEOC is a paper tiger. If you want action you have to sue.

I'd just make a complaint with the EEOC vs 3M HR

Current 3Mers must remember this....HR is not there to help you!! They pretend to be there for you only to collect enough information to figure out if this is a front page news headliner. In the IT organization, JA-VP had many HR issues reported against him and one of his directors. HR did nothing to address for over a year and then job eliminated all the people who had reported issues. 3M knows most employees don't have the money to give up their severance payout and be held up in litigation with 3M for months/years so they get by with anything.
