New engine for my 2017 Escape and loaner car

Thanks Ford... I am getting a new 2.0L Ecoboost engine for my 2017 Escape and a free loaner car while it is in the shop.

Certified Pre Owned Warranty is paying off big time.

65K miles... It like to sip a little coolant between oil changes. I was quoted $7k until I told them it should be under warranty...why would I have to remind them....

Taking pennies away from profit sharing.

Me... under warranty engine replacement at 20K.
I will only buy older toyota or v8's from now on.

@wfp+1: That is excellent advice, and not just because of engine problems on 2013-2019 Escapes. The 6F35 automatic transmission was also trouble-prone. The NHTSA website has hundreds of incident reports on that Escape gearbox, many of them describing sudden catastrophic failures. When my son's 2015 Escape suffered that type of failure at 108k, it took a month to get a remanufactured transmission from Ford and the part and installation cost a small fortune.

The whole GTDI came about to meet CAFE. But this over stresses the powertrain and will in the long run reduce durability. My retirement vehicle will not have a boosted engine.

More government forced BS

With all the reasons you have known and other reasons beyond, I have decided not to drive, use any big three vehicles again in my life (and that includes, hearse for funeral) and my daily car is switched to a Solara, my summer car remains a Miata and my luxury car role is filled by a Packard now.

I am glad I am still very young to make the switch, not after learning the lessons in a hard way.

and everybody made fun of the panther. 200k miles plus on more than one of mine till things started to go sproing. a lost era. gotta go honda toyota now for that. american engineers cancelled by MBAs from various countries. "i'm gonna get mine, to heck wit the USA" ... traitors? you decide.

You'd better either consider getting an extended warranty after your 100,000 powertrain warranty is up or trade it in. I had an EcoBoost engine and had to keep bringing my vehicle back into the shop a few times. I ended up going with a diesel. My friend also traded her Edge in after having $5,000 worth of repairs done. Be forewarned - this is not going to be your first trip to the shop.

Is this the same engine where they decided to put a rubber timing belt inside the engine block submerged in oil?
