I started the paperwork on 1/5 and got my official rejection/denial this morning... they put me thru the ringer with multiple phone calls to me and contacts to SCHW and validating all SCHW Severance, Vacation Pay, Back Pay, WARN Pay etc. --- I was rejected/denied for all claims of unemployment pay until 2025 according to the state of Indiana. Anyone having any luck actually claiming unemployment? I know it isn't much, but just kind of the principle of the being laid off and wanting to claim it you know?

Texas here. Smooth sailing as others mentioned. The severance didn't count cause not spread out. Have collected few payments already.
Sorry to hear sad stories but the unemployment is state base so seems texas has it streamlined.
Best of luck!
Yes in California - I had the worst time, but I figured it out. I already had an ID.me account registered with the IRS so i could get verified and be able to deal a family trust. Turns out you can’t have a duplicate ID.me account tied to the same email account.
EDD customer service was a sh*t show. The first woman, I think had a mental breakdown - she was yelling at me saying “Why don’t you people know how to fill out a form?” To which I replied “What people? African-American, disabled people? Please explain your comment” she freaked out and hung up on me.
Two days later after 73 calls (I have the screenshots), I finally was able to get through to a person and she fixed the issue in 2 or 3 minutes. All she needed was a different email address. Debit card on its way.
Arizona here. I need to wait till the severance period is over. I think it is state dependent.
Colorado here and approved and collecting, Sorry to hear you were rejected, what do you mean through 2025? Have you collected recently?
The max is so low here, I didn't even bother with the hassle. If I could opt out of paying for unemployment insurance, I would.
Texas, approved and collecting rn. It was all smooth sailing. Each state has its own set of rules, it seems.
Colorado approved. Because the severance is tied to giving up rights to sue you can receive severance. It’s no longer standard comp.
Ohio - not eligible until severance period ends even though we received lump sum payment.
In Arizona they initially rejected me - they didn't say why. But after hours and hours holding and talking to representative, I discovered it's because they were counting my weeks of severance as time that I was still getting paid, so since I got 88 days of severance, I have to wait 88 days from Jan 5 until I am eligible, so I am eligible in March. Maybe that's the case with you? I would be clear with them that your last day worked was October 27th. I would definitely keep at it. Schwab will not contest this if you were a part of the impacted group. So you need to sort things out with Indiana.
Got approved in Texas, like others said a hassle to set up my account/ verify my identity but after that they got Schwab’s approval pretty quickly and I qualified because the severance was lump sum and not spread out. In other words, I’m currently not receiving any pay from Schwab which is all TX is concerned with.
Filed in Massachusetts and it's a mess. Identity fraud and still 2 pending issues that have to be verified by Schwab. I had to involve my state representative to help get anyone from the DUA to do something. Repeated calls to the 800 number ended with a thank you but we're busy, call back later. MA allows you to receive severance so I would expect that I should receive it but not sure when. Every state has different rules.
I’m receiving unemployment in Denver. It was a mess to get set up…verifying identity, long hold times when calling, back and forth with documenting severance etc. However, it wasn’t as bad as what you describe. If you are a leader and received a better payout that could be the issue.
Indiana - and rejected/denied because of the Severance/Vacation/Back/WARN Pay amounts
Didn’t bother. Curious which state and what specific reason was cited.
