Parents rip NYC over remote learning failures during winter storm as DOE puts blame on IBM: ‘Disappointed, frustrated and angry’

Schools Chancellor David Banks pointed the
finger at IBM for the remote learning meltdown,
insisting the DOE’s internal team had “checked
all the boxes.”

“IBM was not ready for primetime,” Banks told
reporters at a City Hall briefing, adding that the
tech company wasn’t prepared for more than
900,000 students logging on at the same time.

Big Bleu blew it, again.

Of course can't handle enterprise size requirements, no surprise there, if they would bid today it would blow up. If they'd bid in 2025, it would blow up.

a state that demanded people get an experimental jab, - they shut schools down for a virus that was proven even then, it had almost zero affect on those under 60 . caused massive inflation and people now dying of multiple side affect of said experimental jab.. but lets blame IBM.

A different perspective for consideration. IBM is guilty of many things but -
I've worked at NYC's DOITT (Department Of Information Technology and Telecommunications) which is the I.T. infrastructure datacenter of NYC.
In short, it was woefully inadequately equipped to handle the additional traffic load of online school attendance. From experience, the techs managing that network from commissioner to grunt just aren't all that swift. For remote access, they use Host on Demand with inherently bad user friendliness and access. NYC DOITT and its counterpart FISA don't even use conferencing software like WEBEX or Microsoft Meeting. For remote meetings, it's expected that you have and use your personal cell phone. Mention SLACK or SAMETIME to them (they don't have it) and they look at you as if you're from Mars.
In short DOITT just can't DO IT. Odd that that was not mentioned in the POST article.

and what company would be? Too many variables between the user and the application. Could have been many things.

If IBM employees need to return to office to work, IBM will not figure out, how its customers can learn or work remotely!!!

Speaking purely from a technical perspective, I wonder what happened. Did an internal system break somehow? Was there simply not enough capacity? Was project planning botched for that first day?

It's easy to cast blame and shoot arrows, but an NTSB mindset would be helpful at this point...what actually happened (detailed analysis please). It obviously wouldn't be a subject for this forum, but it would be nice to see it on some other website perhaps.
