Any word if Desoto might get hit with any of these (mass layoffs) that are suppose to come in March? Asking for a friend.

I'm asking why can't your friend ask? What kind of situation has been imposed onto your friend that prevents him/her to ask their own questions on here? The reason I ask is because the post itself seems rather innocent in nature, but was posted under the name of "sneaky snake".
Fish’s replacement there isn’t any better. Those of us from Council Bluffs couldn’t stand either of them. Glad they’re someone else’s problem now.

All of NP will close down. The train crews will be airtesting, fueling, sanding, switching, cleaning the sh!tters, track maintenance, car and locomotive repairs, bridge and building repairs, everything the whole nine yards! They will also be getting paid half their normal wage. The dwell will go from a couple hours to a week. But it's not like UP cares about their customers or anything, so....
Adam was the best! I miss him so so much I cry myself to sleep at night! Wish he would have stayed a little bit longer.

If the Desoto shop received notification of vacation buyout then yes, they are planning to cut you or close you. Don’t take the vacation buy out. Stick it to them till the end. Up hires and layoffs within 6 months. This is true, it also happened twice in Los Angeles. In 2019 and 2023.
6-7 years ago they hired a bunch of people only to furlough them 6 months later. They never did bring them back
I wouldn't think they would lay off anyone since they're hiring car "persons" in Desoto right now. It's on the UPjobs website. However, this is the UP, so you never know.
😲 well considering there’s only about 120 carman left that’s about 30. I think I have about 40-45 below me. Hopefully it doesn’t happen but it wouldn’t surprise me if it did. I wouldn’t be shocked if they closed down the entire shop.
Might want to consider the vacation buyout if you’re in the lower 1/4 of your roster.
