Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Just wish it’s over already

Too many rumors about layoffs to ignore them. I guess we really can expect a bloodbath. Why can’t we know what the game is, so that we can plan accordingly? We all have families to support and bills to pay. What’s the point of keeping us in the dark? I hope this round will be over soon.

They won't say anything to anyone unless it's mandatory. It's the same reason you get escorted off of the property, instead of just being told to leave. There's less collateral damage that way, and way less options for some folks to sabotage the company on their way out. This is going the same way it did last time. People are getting tired and anxious over the BS. I ignore all of the rumors simply because I don't care anymore. If it happens, then it happens. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. There's no need to worry about it, but do have a plan in place and ready to be executed if or when that day comes. Vena won't be here forever, and most of the d-bags in Omaha will be gone either before or after Vena leaves. It's just a matter of time before Vena sc--ws up like Fritz did. Except the former CEO sc--wed himself because of Venas decisions. Vena doesn't have a shield this time around. I'm only waiting for Vena to sc--w himself. Everyone of those executives need to be let go, and change needs to start with them first. Cutting the very jobs that got this company through the last 160+ years is how this company will die. The UP name will tarnished forever due Vena. I just think it's funny how one person(Vena) can be so hated by all employees, and somehow believe what he's doing to a company is necessary.

Why worry about something you have no control over? The only thing you can control is being prepared. Doing things like saving your money in that rainy day fund, and making a list of places to apply to if you do get laid-off. Polish up your resume. Have a plan!

I'm going to cut harder at Stockton and Roseville and Oakland soon.
Hire more cheap at 75 percent train crew men to do air tests at 18.00 an hour and run 11 days straight and 4 days off maybe. Make it more cut throat and cr-ppy for you all.

Jim Vena,
CEO UPRR

It’s been out in the open. Unions know about it. Mechanical department is going to get hit hard because it’s a large cost to the company. Their solution is to do the same job using less qualified people because there is no law that says they can’t do it. This is for locomotive and car department.

They don't give heads up, due to the risk of employees getting "injured" on the job. They are snakes in the grass. Waiting to ambush their prey. They are not even rattle snakes, at least a rattle snake gives ya a warning.

They don't give a flying cr-p about you or your family!! All they care about is making their wallet fatter and fatter! They probably will make a u-turn when they die!!
