Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

2024 resolutions

What are your resolutions? Here are mine.

  • Get a golf tan as deep and luxurious as BH at an R&D all hands.
  • Start my own book club to rival JPs.
First book: Doing more with less.
Second book: 101 (stolen) peanut butter recipes.
  • Accept that my salary is embarrassing low because I am a terrible technology worker.

Concerning SAS, my 2024 resolution is hope.

I hope for all my friends who are still with SAS to have a happy landing, either with a package or a more fulfilling new job, both of which leading towards a happy and healthy retirement.

I resolve to assume the worst. I shall adopt a position of complete pessimism. I expect SAS to IPO 100% in 2025, followed immediately by Broadcom or a similar company acquiring control.

The advantages of a pessimist are twofold: 1) we are better prepared, and 2) if there is any good news, we are pleasantly surprised 😊.

Don't mock the book club. It's hurtin' my mojo, man. Let's have a microbrew and jam together.

Either survive layoffs or avoid one that involves an executive announcement to my peers saying that I fully deserved it followed by several celebrations.
