Not everyone can be a 10x developer, a tech lead, or an architect. A hierarchical organization has more leaves than branches. There have to be more followers than leaders. Some have to have the vision while others do the work. A majority do what they are told and many with devotion. A mature company is not a startup. An elite cadre of “hard core” saviors can be annointed to build a new foundation but cannot complete the chapel by themselves. That chapel might fail to impress and attract a new congregation but is that the fault of the designers or the workers?

"Yeah the masses are so smart…"
Perhaps that applies to the masses who have not adopted Viya.
Two days later, on the eighth or ninth reading, it begins to make sense.
Long time, Oliver!
Yeah the masses are so smart…
"Was this from one of the "true believers" in the Art Department?"
That never crossed my mind. Cause the artsy folk seem clueless concerning non artsy stuff like software and product design. Plus most of the artsy type are too busy with their lattes and patchouli to care about posting on this site.
It sounded more like a person not wanting to own his design mistakes. A design that missed the market by several zip codes. The down votes on the OP far exceeding the up votes tell the reaction of the masses. Enough said. Let's let this thread die.
What does it even mean?
Try growing up and taking responsibility your failures instead of posting your whiny excuses!
Classic gaslighting.
Lots of "religious" themes in the OP. There seems to be an underlying "artisan" theme in there as well. Hmmm...
Was this from one of the "true believers" in the Art Department?
(Which is safe)
doesn't matter if you pour $10 billion and "hard core" into the wrong strategy
After 8 years, it should be the Sistine Chapel.
The top tech companies SAS now competes directly with hire for rank and file employees who are as “hard-core” as most elite devs are at SAS — at least that is my post-SAS experience. The “most elite” developers at these companies are generally without peer at SAS, because there is nothing in the way SAS is managed, in its products or its compensation structure that would attract them.
You staying warm up there? At Virginia Teach.
Good comebacks! Don’t stop. You got them on the ropes!
OP:
When the designer has no business experience and does not listen to his customers, then the answer to your question is "yes".
Sir, this is a Wendy's
Ok, Deepak Chopra.
Er… ok.
