Ranger DOA. Another miss by Ford Leadership

Dead on arrival. Maybe we should make an EV version next! Even at last years pace only 40k units. Another Ford Boondoggle.

Ford Ranger sales decreased in the United States, Mexico and Colombia, while increasing in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile during Q4 2023.

Ford Ranger Sales - Q4 2023 - United States
In the United States, Ford Ranger deliveries totaled 831 units in Q4 2023, a decrease of about 92 percent compared to 10,712 units sold in Q4 2022.

Ranger should have been bare bines and priced at $25K

The number one thing people say they want when I talk to them about Ford products is a simple small indestructible truck. They often say like the 1950s F100 or 1980s Toyota Helix. They often comment that the current day ranger is the size of the old f150 and too darn big and complex.

The other two things they mention are passenger van like Honda odyssey, a nice sedan.

There is a demand for compact trucks, just not Fords definition of a compact truck.
If lets say Ford were to reproduce the 1956 F100 correctly it would likely be a best seller.

Anyone blaming supply chain is a mo--n. Fact is that demand had plummeted. Yes they quit producing so many but that was deliberate based on demand. These are built on the same line as Bronco at MAP. Anytime notice Bronco production increased in December? That's because they built more Broncos and less Rangers.

Why does no one wants one? Read the preceding responses. Oh except for the stupid id--t mo--n that droned on about an EV version. As Lightning shows, no one wanted an electric pickup.

When they discount these 50% I'll buy one. Shocking a midsized pickup priced at full sized prices isn't selling. ....

Why buy maverick or ranger
Toyota launched all new gas and hybrid Tacoma
It’s cheaper and not ‘built ford tough’ which means it’s gonna last longer
And taco is made in USA

A gas powered small truck in 2024? No wonder it is not successful. There's no market for it.

The better bet is that Ranger get hit with a wrecking ball and reborn as a Model e full-BEV truck. Demand would improve, would be global, less complex, and it would be a sustainable mobility product for years to come.

Here is the annual Ranger sales figure. It's at the bottom of the market share. It's time to shut it down. Farley is telling us it's supply chain issue. He lied, the data shows the truth.

People know how bad the product is, they are staying away from Ford products.

2020 101,485
2021 94,755
2022 56,987
2023 32,334

Ford fired all the “car guys”— people who grew up in Detroit’s car-culture.

Our skills and experience were inadequate for the company’s needs going forward.

Sometimes “forwards” in the wrong direction.

Ford had no supply chain issues. That is what the leadership wanted you to hear. When there is no demand for the product, it's a major problem internally. Ford can't fix the problems so they shoved it under the rugs. Now it's showing up in public, just like other Ford products. A piece of junk.

Maybe the chip suppliers favored Toyota because they have a mutually rewarding relationship unlike Ford’s on demand cost reduction and blame the supplier quality debits that are so pervasive throughout Ford Purchasing. Not luck at all with supply chain issues, everyone first before Ford.

People now know what a piece of shut Ford Ranger is compared to Toyota Tacoma. Ranger sales is down 43%, total of 32k units for 2023. Tacoma sales is down 1%, 234k for 2023.
Ford poor quality, unreliable, too many recalls are the main reasons customer are staying away from Ford products. Ford can't hide the facts anymore, it's out in public and the sales data shows the truth.

Ford will eventually shutdown production of the Ford Ranger if they can't sell 100k per year. It's coming sooner than you think.

You can't sell what you don't have. Let's not cherry pick facts, Ford supply chain issues were the big problem here not customers leaving units on the lot. As production ramps up sales will return. Toyota makes a good truck and they also enjoyed some good fortune.

The 2024 Ranger (which still has yet to arrive at dealers) also falls short of the competition.

Even for ths Lariat trim, there's no sunroof, no cooled seats nor rear vents. The new gen Chevy Colorado Z71 has all of these features for only a few thousand more at most
