Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Laid off employees’ personal items?

I was laid off in October but have not received my personal items from my office shipped to my home yet. I shipped my Schwab equipment back right away and told the MD who laid me off remotely that they could ship my items vs me performing an awkward curbside pickup at the campus. Figured I’d give some time before nagging but this feels long:

I already reached out to HR, who referred me to Corporate Real Estate, who I emailed yesterday and am awaiting a reply. Anyone else experiencing the same thing or have you gotten your belongings shipped to you already?

OP here: Property management responded yesterday that they couldn’t find my items, so I’ve given them a detailed description of what I can remember and they’re looking for them. Someone else moved into my former office and says there isn’t anything there. Pretty annoying, hope they can find it.

I had to email them like 4 times. They finally sent my stuff. No bubble wrap just threw it all in a box and most of my items were broken. And they wrote down all of my items on a list that was in the box but several of those items were not in the box.

In past layoffs, it was your manager's responsibility to pack up your personal items and coordinate with property management to have these sent to you. I was actually working in-office for my layoff (what a wonderful surprise!), and there was an on-site manager appointed to coordinate my "walk out". Property management had already provided boxes (one the most efficient processes in this layoff?), but I elected to use my backpack instead not wanting to carry out a box and be caught in a photo-op. LOL. Keep after property management. They will sort it out and ship you your things.

OP here:

Thanks, Propert Management in Austin responded to me asking some details about what items they were, meanwhile my former colleague confirmed someone else is now in my office and she thought my things were boxed prior. So now Property management is looking for my stuff to ship to me. Not sure how that could have gone awry but glad I took items I care mostly about out just before the layoff, knowing I was likely getting it since I told my boss it’d be fine if I did.

I had this issue. I had to email my manager and copied in corporate real estate. My manager packed my items and it was shipped by corporate real estate. It was crazy the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing! Keep emailing them!! You have to sign for the package.
