There will always be people who want to come in. So let them! However, most of us are highly inconvenienced. So what? The years 2019/2020 were scary. For a lot of us. In many different ways. Such as physical health and/or job security. WFH was implemented by lots of large corporations throughout the country durning the year our government shut down. Why? Maybe to keep us safe or financially secure or maybe to secure the mode of production. Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure- we got a taste of it. Most of us working consistent 40 hour work weeks and then some may have felt relief. There’s nothing wrong with that. It was mentally binding. Now we see it really DOESN'T have to be that way. Profit will continue to be made, numbers will continue to fluctuate, business will continue to go on -no matter WHERE we-the employees- THE FACE of your company are conducting it. So why can’t we just be happy? Call us spoiled or brats or ungrateful. The fact of the matter is that it isn’t necessary anymore. We KNOW that now. It’s the principle of why? If it makes us happy, if we’re more productive, if it it’s simply just what we want to do then-why not? Networking? Seriously? Many of us are inclined to believe there is an ulterior motive. We don’t live to work, Walt. We work to live. Our personal priorities lay at home with our families. If this resonates with you, just upvote it. You don’t have to comment or share. Thank you OP for being courageous.
It makes me sad that people miss their family. We have one short life and we work the majority of it and when we had the chance to see them more often it gets taken away.
Fck you Schwab.
Senior leaders dont have the upper hand here. For once in a long time the employees hold the cards here. They can threaten all they want, but eventually the workforce is either gonna be laid off or quit. This place is toxic to work and the folks I know who have landed a new job say that the new place is a breath of fresh air.
@mfy+1qwSE4rO I'm gen x borderline/millennial and I don't want to hang out with my coworkers either.
Next they are gonna have forced team events after hours. You know the kind where they are optional but if you dont go you look bad. Senior leaders dont get that Gen Z doesnt want to hang out with their co workers.
uip+1qwSE4rO everyone I knew was meeting their commitment: 90-100% WFH. Punish the id--ts who said they wanted to come in and didn't
It was optional and people weren’t meeting their commitment.
I haven’t gone in yet. No plans to. And no one has said a word yet.
Menace/Says/Tiny/Walt/Rick/Petey, they are in too far to back down. It’s a useful show of strength to their financial brethren who are panicked about commercial real estate and want the masses distracted as they take more and more power. The goal is BlackRock and a desperate workforce.
We used to have good people in retail and technology. Now? Managers who struggle to spell AI and advice that is two steps removed from Cr--ker Jacks prizes.
Sadly the competition isn’t. And the rto goal is to get people to leave without a package or convince those staying that they’d best work their assess off for a meager bonus and no hope of advancement. There’s future building and culture, but those are far down the list. Best not speak ill of managers either. They know they’re nu-e and are good as long as a survey says they aren’t.
