Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

The Truth Hurts

Look in the mirror. This is a for profit company. The reason you were terminated is because you were no longer profitable for the company. Get over it and move on.

this layoff rocked me... I was getting too secure in my role knowing secretly that it was not fulfilling most of my needs. I really was in a bad place for most of the pandemic as someone that thrives working with others (not on teams meetings). The financial space is chaos right now in terms of mass layoffs .. good luck all

Don't you have work to do? Finish your po-p, get off the pot by wiping with the sandpaper Schwab leaves in the stalls, and get back to answering the offshore contractor's questions.

OP isn’t entirely off look at benefits for true cost. They know what our family/spouse costs the firm. They project that out.

OP - the only reason you're still there is because they realized you're at best a mediocre employee who will barely get a raise and bonus and you will sit there and be ok with that.

I'm glad I was chosen to be part of the layoff. got a large severance and a new job. my severance is just a big bonus for me.. something you won't ever see there

OP has never seen the show survivor or weakest link obviously. It's not the best who make it to the end. It is the mediocre who all fear the smart ones and vote them off early. Been in several companies through the years and they all end the same. I saw from the inside who got let go and who didn't. I just hope there is enough talent in key roles left to make sure we don't implode or make some critical errors.

It's true though. Change thrust upon people can get them to a better place. People often settle for the comfortable known or believe they aren't as valuable as they are because of leadership failure to motivate, leverage and integrate their skills for effective contribution. In that sense, this could very well be a good thing for many impacted. Seeing other folks impacted throughout tge years, it is often the case that this unwanted change leads to a better life.

I hope the best for our impacted collegues. After all, they were part of our family just like us and we all know the real reason why they had to go. It was not failure on their part. It was a failure of leadership at the EC level. I mean, who buys billions of long bonds at 1.5% when inflation is on a tear? Smart money was on the other side of the trade. Buying them was a clear huge mistake that was easy to see in advance. Not dumping or hedging them when the Fed clearly signalled rates would go up for many months was a total leadership fail. How many of those guys at the top do we still have in Schwab after the cuts? Hmmm...now that i think about it, OP is really confused about what actually happened.

OP is correct, if you got a better paying job good for you but that just means you missed out on your potential and waited for Walt to give you a kick in the rear.

An A-hole in every crowd. This clown proves it.

I am still here and can attest that some of the best and brightest were among the folks let go. For those who got cut and didn't actually want it, please don't let low lifes like this guy speak for all of us. It's not true.

Best wishes and my guess is you will land in a better culture and place... though i am sure you'll find other clowns like this there too. After all, there is one in every crowd -- losers crawling out from under rocks everywhere in more recent times.

It would have been a better if they got rid of two of these clowns for every one of the more valuable/expensive folks they cut. We are really injured now. Better to have fewer who can actually do something of value IMHO.

I’ve gotten a new job that pays around 80% more than what I make at Schwab in the current job market after layoff. Maybe Schwab is the one that should look in the mirror.

How is this helpful or relevant to a layoff board? And if you didn’t lose your job just before the holidays in one of the toughest job markets in recent times, then why are you here?

I’m still here. Lots of folks much better that I, in terms of productivity and direct product execution, were let go. I’m still here. One of them was directly responsible for millions in new revenue.

It takes a special kind of human to voluntarily post on an anonymous board to tell everyone exactly who they are. And you did.
