Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Execs leaving Jan 2

Did anyone see all these losses? CH, KJC, MCB, et al? This is a bloodbath.

  • No TEBG group president replacement yet

They are going external for this one. The challenge is finding a COC-level leader that is willing to join an obvious impending bankruptcy.

  • No PSD president replacement yet

This one is a bad sign. I'm actually very surprised they haven't found someone yet, either internal or external.

No Global R&D operations replacement yet

  • He literally just left. Nice guy, I hope he is happy in his new job across town. I think they will find a replacement internally pretty quick.

No TEBG group president replacement yet
No PSD president replacement yet
No Global R&D operations replacement yet
Many VPs moving internally and not being replaced

What will happen to TEBG?

How many were announced as leaving from each BG? At what levels in each BG?

CBG has not evolved with their consumers. The "mgmt team" has always been arrogant; especially at the top - ND. There's always been a sense that CBG was the standout BG even when the numbers did not support. It's unfortunate, we have great products and it's very difficult to watch products of lesser quality take over our floor space.

Jump ship while you can

Usually the top flights will flee first, which is what seen in 3M now... Group presidents, Presidents, SVPs all suddenly going off one by one. And internal replacements are not identified immediately usually hired from external. This looks to get worse post hard spin.

Isn't there an old adage about rats fleeing a ship?

Probably also learnt that they are suppose to meet the KPIs. They realized it’s almost impossible to meet, hence bail out early. Don’t wait to be sacked.

Probably being asked to develop a growth strategy for their respective businesses so they jumped ship once they learned they had to actually think and work. So, no big loss if they bail.

The HOO is non existence. Executives and senior leadership are exiting by the droves. Unable to catch up on grooming the next leaders. Something is not right here.

After executive left, how long will it take to replace? Have they replace the PSD President? What about the TEBG Group president? Where is the HOO??

I love how they word these departures. Leaving to pursue other opportunities, I know for a fact one of them was cut. Aholes.

All 3M management departures are overall net positive because, to the top, it is a risk-averse group driven to stay in the comfort zone. Root cause of this Mia-management Mike Roman remains with the same game plan.
