For those of you over 40 that got a copy of the "Decisional Chart" required by the OWBP Act. Make sure you look over it well. I was laid off in September 2023. I can confirm that September decisional chart is not valid. My position and age is not included on the terminated list. This makes the chart invalid, for all that was laid off in September 2023. Do yourself a favor and read what rights you have with the OWBP, if the decisional chart is invalid.
Also if you were laid off, and your termination documents are erroneous like mine, the bullet points on the waive are not in sequence. example: Bullets # A, B, then jumps to G (my attorney asked what happened to C, D, E and F as he shook his head) again not a valid waiver. Call an attorney, even if you did sign your waiver, your contract/waiver is probably not valid and you can file complaints with EEOC, OWBP and the OFCCP. Remember BD is a "government contractor" and they fail to follow protocol for federal contracts and the feds should be made aware of it.
Look closely at your documents, because just like the BD Upper Leadership, their HR and Legal Team are also incompetent.
BD will cut people no matter what the economy does. It’s just gonna be more if they need to meet the expectations of stock holders.
If you’re new and don’t make a lot of $$, you’re probably safe. The more you make, and the more senior you are, the higher at risk you are of being on a list…. Of course, in your severance package you’ll get a nice list of all the positions culled along with yours, age of the associate, job title and code…. Just to show you it wasn’t really age discrimination.
But it is. It’s all about the bottom dollar, and the more $$$ they can gain by cutting positions, the more likely they’ll do it to that position.
The company doesn’t care about its people - BD lost its soul a while ago, and once that’s gone, it’s not going to get it back.
I feel more secure investing in a Blockbuster chain than working at BD.
