Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Need help in getting interview call !!

Kindly treat this as a request IBM'ers!

I've been constantly applying to positions at IBM and the first thing they do is send out an assessment and no follow-ups after that. Request you to please guide on how to get interview call ?

Your inputs are highly appreciated in these difficult times.

There is no point to apply at IBM… you will only be disapointed, and if you are not you will surely get laid off. Heads up, be smart.

IBM HR needs to fix their darn careers website. You need to search for "IBM Jobs brassring" to then login using your creds or a social login like linkedin. If you go to try and login to their main careers web site, it just hangs and does not take you to brassring.

Yes why IBM? I assume you are not based in US? If you are US based I’d consider other options.

Those assessments are a joke. If you are used to taking them, you will start to see patterns and can tailor how you answer questions to how the scoring works. Lazy recruitment

Do you have any connections within IBM who can find someone in HR who can give you a status of your application? It’s tough to land a role there if you don’t know people who work there or are alums from the organization. Wish you the best.

It could also mean that you did not score high enough on the assessment.

IMHO...you're caught in a hiring trap. the actual position isn't active, but you're helping boost the EEO/HR numbers for the shareholder reports...

Did you ever stop to consider that they might be trying to tell you something?

Why in the world would anyone persist in trying to get hired by IBM after being ignored as an applicant? This treatment isn't, nor will it ever be, any better as an employee. When they show you who they are you should believe them and move on.

A lot of companies are sending links to these assessments now and you may or may not hear back from a recruiter. Some companies will publish your score or results on their candidate portal. I know I took an assessment recently for the US Postal Service and they posted my score right away on the candidate portal. Luckily I passed first go around but it is not easy. It probably depends on the type of assessment given and if it can translate into some type of score. For the USPS assessment, you have a group of situational questions where you choose your mostly likely action and least likely action. And also a group of questions where you choose most like me or definitely like me.

IBM is a great company if you’re not part of the layoffs! I was layoffs and salaries are currently 75% of what I had at IBM. But you won’t get an interview back now. TA is building their pipeline, hoping for the hiring freeze to be removed in January… IBM always gets a ton of applicants, so you have to wait. If you’re too persistent and seem annoying and thinking you deserve an interview over others, you will be put on that red list.

That kind of question would be more appropriate for https://www.reddit.com/r/IBM/

This is a layoff forum - not a hiring forum.

Why would you want to join IBM? This is a terrible company.
There is a hiring freeze anyway.
