Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Will MW address morale?

Morale is about as low as its gets right now. The layoffs, changes, cuts and low CIP has taken its toll on the workforce. Will leadership have the courage to try to improve morale by improving the lives of the employees or will they ignore the drop in morale and take punitive measures to force us to be happy "the beatings will continue..."? The forced extra time in the office will not help the situation.

Cost cutting, DEI etc that is just facts of life in oilfield today.

The only way I can explain MW’s comfort with cronyism, nepotism and lack of accountability is that he came through the same system and thinks it’s normal. That is what hurts me the most.

Mike Wirth already fired everyone "wirth" a damn so now it's just senior managers and their family left... And obviously they don't know how to do $hit except complain LOL

@tum+ you seem to have the attitude that is what's destroying our country unfortunately. His employees are the ones who make the money for him to give to Wallstreet. The company can do without him but he can't do without the employees. With all the layoffs, low CIPs when the company was doing well and painful changes and distractions he should pay attention to low morale that is cutting productivity. The attitude of if you don't like it leave won't fix it and beatings won't either. The employees are important and not just Wallstreet.

That is not MW's number 1 priority. He is in charge of the corporate financial health [profitability, dividend, stock value]. To ensure corporate profit remains on track, he can use different tools including mass lay offs, reorgs, and even spin off/ selling portion of the company or buying/ merger. The morale of employees is his last concern. In corporate amaerica, if you are not motivated you are welcome to leave and work where you are motivated to work. You are paid and compensated for your work, regardless of your moral.

Do you think someone so motivated by greed that he twisted the Board's arm to give him extra years is going to care if employees are smiling and giggling or just getting their work done?

Without a clear plan for the future it is hard to rally the troops around a shared vision.

Do you think he cares? The plan is to do a stealth layoff by making everyone get in the office. Followed by a merger with Hess and a real layoff. Those that want to stay will be motivated to work to keep their jobs, morale be damned...
