If there is any chance of changing things around in 2024, getting rid of lower and middle management who provide little to no value by creating some random slides and assign work to others would be a good start. Way too many non technical who can't even take a call when an engineer is not available. Maybe the one thing Meta did right was get rid of the middle management. Unfortunately cisco upper management survives because of non competent and yes men they call as middle management.

I go with too many engineers that over estimate their abilities and the market value of that lack of skills. You have people half utilized that can't get training or simple time sheets in on time. Others leaning on skin color and gender (real, not fairy tale) with the help of HR adding 2 additional steps to get rid of that class. Managers aren't the ones issuing a command to knock down an enterprise, creating documents with other customer information, or be oblivious to what a critical path or network diagram is. Look in the mirror folks. There's the source issue almost every time. You just have to move the arrogance out of your eyes to see it.
Cisco middle managements are just glorified project managers. They are paper movers, go to meetings to show visibility, show the work done by the team as their work to get credit and promotions.
We should stop all the LRs and get rid of 50% of HR.
So we need to not have layoffs and have layoffs. I think you have the problem surrounded!
Unfortunatey they can't seem to get the lower OR middle management to vote for it..lol.
@pph+1qfETrpn you can't stop LRs and have incompetent middle management at the same time. I don't know what an average salary for such middle management looks like but that adds up across all the BUs and becomes a real problem real fast where you end up with more non technical folks like OP mentions and have their d-mb politics. They are incapable of even managing their 3 to 5 people teams.
We should stop all the LRs and get rid of 50% of HR. They are mostly overhead and nobody has any authority to do anything other than to be a layoff machine! Cisco focuses on what is legal, not what is ethical.
I don't know how anyone that can work in HR after they see how we "really" treat some employees. Kiss up to a SVP and you're OK, you party, and you travel, otherwise you are rolled over.
I wish we could vote Cisco as the worse place to work!
I bet their weekly check-ins include a bunch of 1:1s with their team
Fire 90% project managers and program managers would be the start.
95% Cisco employees not able to speak with customers directly.
Many d-mb a-s project managers got on to the customer calls asking customers what is “ DR” ? It’s insulting.
Most middle manager work part time at home and are incapable of speaking with customers
