Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Hypocrites

Instead of having my plan vacation time honored I’ll have to call in sick on Tuesday. Even though my manager and his VP are taking the full week off. There isn’t a single thing the CS&S leaders ask us to do that they are willing to do themselves.

Stop calling them leaders. They’re managers at best.

And don’t expect anything from managers. Yes, they should honor approved vacations and plan for themselves exactly as is expected of their team. But that’s how you know they aren’t a leader.

Leaders, and I used to lead, remove obstacles from their team, assist with growth and reduce organizational overhead like vacation planning. Set coverage expectations in advance and have a system. Watch so people don’t lose days.

It isn’t only the fault of managers. No organization should have as many surveys as we do with no beneficial changes in response. No org should be wasting non-output time with surveys to start with. Time is valuable. Asking what you’d score as a net promoter? Or if you have a friend at work?! I know the HR science, but just no.

We’ve become more inefficient over the years. That’s tough when we started from barely performing sociopaths.
