Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Expect a Reorg…

Full disclosure here, this is just my opinion after working for this company for over ten years. I expect the company will enact another reorganization, most likely at the end of the fiscal year. I make this statement after having watched several cycles of this BS. Every 3-4 years the “leaders” of our company start getting anxious about cutting costs and the only real idea any of them have is eliminating staff and payroll. It’s the easiest, laziest and most unimaginative way of managing costs and seems to be fully embraced by Lowe’s corporate.

I could be wrong. I hope I am but honestly, I doubt it. You can see it in their eyes on every Lowedown broadcast. They’re running out of tricks to jack up the stock price and that’s all that truly matters to these guys. I remember that every time I see another nauseating podcast by Marvin. How much this guy gives a damn about us is inversely proportional to how much time he spends talking about it and d@mn does he like to talk about it. It raises the hair on the top of my head. It’s that feeling you get when you’re in the room with a sociopath who has just chopped up a neighbor. His plastic smile never stops and you just know that something is very wrong here.

So, just be prepared for a special meeting around the end of January or early February. When the managers walk in with their script on paper and a look like someone just sh0t their dog, you’ll know you’re about to have a great day.

Good Luck.

Last big re-org was in 2017 when previous brass eliminated DM positions. Marvin brought a few back.

Seems like every few years they re-org.

Safest DS role is either Front end or OTT. Gotta have someone babysit stockers and cashiers, else shrink would skyrocket. Cap for DS is like $30/hour. That higher than Walmart, and way higher than Depot.

Layoffs and reorg to begin within the next 6-8 weeks from what I’m hearing—and there will be no spring staff-up.

Guarantee that next year Marvin will reorganize his foot up your a$s. With a smile and a "God bless" to boot.

I guarantee he won’t. Simple way to prevent it is quit. Find a better company. Most companies are better. Then if he meets you on the street. Just laugh, I rarely go into a Lowe’s, but when I do. I refuse to spend over $5. Gotta get that ticket average down.

I retired from working full time @ lowe's for quite a few years, I saw many changes since I first started. Thank goodness I was able to fully retire in the later part of the year 2018, I haven't missed any of the 'politics' that I had to deal with on a daily basis which made my actual job much harder than it was supposed to be.

I’ve got 15 years in. You are Absolutely correct! The layoffs are coming, no doubt. I too have watched this dog and pony show to many times. It’s all about top management’s income and the stock price.
God Bless!

It will not be a happy new year at Lowe's. Get ready for it. Marvin and company will stiff us all.

Unionize, it's the only tool we can use as leverage.

Quote : Lowe's has to constantly restructure and innovate to keep up with the constantly changing landscape in retail. If they didn't do this, they would go the way of Sears, Circuit City, and Kmart. There's no question that this process is hard on frontline employees, but it is absolutely necessary if a large corporation wants to stay profitable for its shareholders

They have to restructure for the greedy Lowe's Corporation so they can pay for there vacation homes and live high on the hog. They don't care about the retail workers that actually do the work.
