Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Let's talk about that airbag recall.

(Bloomberg) -- Carmakers are lobbying against an extraordinary push by US regulators to force a recall of as many as 52 million air-bag inflators.

Companies like General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. said in letters to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released Wednesday that there’s no proof that the parts made by ARC Automotive Inc. are defective despite reports that some inflators have exploded in a crash, injuring or ki-ling passengers. NHTSA is calling for a broad recall over ARC’s objections, a move that may cost carmakers up to $10 billion.

Never mind your dying eyes, that defective airbag wasn't defective! BTW, before you die, please sign this NDA.
If I were GM or Ford, I would create an airbag open-source project. Then the lawsuits could go after what? The scores of suppliers who make open-source airbags? "It's not our design. We were building to spec."
"Who's spec?"

After they root out Hama's because they know how to do it without collateral damage.

As a concerned driver, GM stakeholder and taxpayer, I propose that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration design the next generation of airbags. Then everything will be perfect because the government cares and will do better.
