Chevy Silverado And GMC Sierra Sales Halted Because Their Roofs Are Splitting

I bet they over ground the laser welds.
Did they move them to a factory in Mexico?
I'm assuming this is a manufacturing issue because we have been making the Silverado since 2019 and this is the first time we are hearing about it.
Apparently, the fix is to weld a section under the trim on the seam between the body side and the roof.
I'm wondering if there was a material change (cost out) or if something in the manufacturing process has changed.
Did they say why the roofs are splitting?
And why just those models?
