I got a 1 in a year when I didn't expect it and a 2 in a year when I think I deserved a 1.
My experience is that the PMP rating system was a pure fantasy and bore no resemblance to my actual performance.

I'm willing to bet he got a three right before the decided to quit and coach basketball. This is typical for younger staff to quit when they think their rating was unfair. People who worked with him pre-basketball, when he was a refining engineer, suggested he was definitely in the bottom third technically and spent too much time talking and not enough getting the wash out.
MW has never had a rating lower than 2+. These people get moved up no matter what they do or don't deliver. I have no clue why he said that because everyone knows better. All being said, these people at that level don't care what we think, complain about or wish for.
I retired in 2022 after 34 years with Chevron. Somehow I made it to PSG 26. I estimate I had 10% ratings of 1, 30% rating of 2+, and 60% rating of 2. I never had a 2- or 3. Note that over the years there were some other rating systems (early in my career) and my estimate is that I had equivalent ratings as noted above.
I don’t think those guys ever had a rating of 3. The people I knew who had 3’s or 2-‘s never were able to reach high level PSG’s.
This is pure nonsense. My experience over the years is that people I knew who got 3's or PIPs were like an airplane in a tailspin. Very few survived more than a couple years. High-pots get all the 1's, a 2 is considered a failing review.
Who cares is the better question. Is that all you guys do all day? Do they actually give you anything to do or are you just paid to sit there and play on the computers? Yet while you're playing around and collecting a paycheck, you're still whining like jealous little babies about others.
It happened in 2003. I have access to HR data and checked it this morning. Looks like it only happened once.
There’s no way. I guarantee you he got a 1 every year regardless of what he delivered.
He gets an extra bump in his ratings for every layoff he does. Why he's so giddy for layoffs all the time.
