Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

More Layoffs in OKC - You've been warned SWN people!!!

Layoffs randomly in OKC yesterday. Different teams around the company affected in varying amounts. Don't have exact head counts. Management did NOT send any notice to teams that were not affected so as to not cause a panic.

EXPECT MORE LAYOFFS BEFORE THE MERGER!!!

If you're working at SWN and considering moving here, let me save you some time.

DON'T!!!

This clown show disguised as a real company is NOT worth uprooting your lives in Houston and downgrading your career prospects and all other quality of life measures by moving to OKC!!!

You won't see it at first, but after about 6 months here, you'll regret you were ever a part of it!!! TRUST ME!!!

This company is led by one of the worst management teams I have ever seen. I've seen some awful ones. That's saying quite a lot, trust me.

I actually believe in the CEO, he's fine. But between him and your supervisor? Lololololol what an atrocious mess!!

I cannot stress this enough, SWN people, just find another job in Houston. Once you move here and want to quit CHK, you have almost no options.

If your family is deeply rooted in OKC I’m not sure it’s worth moving to a city where you’ll be gobbled up. We all know we are dispensable at any given moment. For all you long timers, CHK is not as loyal to you as you have been to it. Yes, it’s been a great place to work with wonderful benefits, and great people. I loved my time there however when it’s time to cut folks, there is no loyalty. Just remember that as you make your decision to move or not to move. They won’t care that you sold your house and uprooted your family and all the emotional upheaved that goes with it to go with them. It’s not just about the money. Choose wisely.

If SWN people come to OKC and get laid off, there is nowhere in OKC for them to go. This cannot be stressed enough.

Don't worry, TB, DL, SB, and DE will take good care of you, just bring your own jar of petroleum jelly.

To be fair, that was entirely unrelated to SWN. It was the end of our STX TSAs and some accounting folks were supporting them. Accounting is caught up with prod layoffs in the fall

I am a SWN employee here, thanks for the heads up. We have yet to have layoffs, just told to keep working as usual. Please keep us posted in the happenings at CHK. It’s sad to invest years with these companies and then get burnt in the end. Best of luck to all that will suffer for this merger…oh forgot “NewCo.”

Nailed it. Awesome CEO surrounded by circus full of (mostly) clowns in leadership and directed by worst board on the stock exchange.
