Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

Return to Office

This Return to Office announcement was so poorly done. FactSet is laying off people but fine with people coming into the office which costs them $ and might cause them to increase some office spaces (like NYC).

Definitely done to have some people choose to find different jobs .

I thought it was handled pretty well - they could have gone a lot harder

  • soft enforcement
  • manager level flexibility

Was announced in a manager meeting on Wednesday. People were rightfully pi---d.

FactSet is increasing dividends, and they approved 300 million in stock buybacks late last year, but sure let’s lay off workers while the executives remain untouched in their ivory thrones

People categorized as in office need to be in for 3+ days. Hybrid 2-3 days a week. Remote (only if you were hired remote or live 30+ miles and have no in office teammates) will be remote. Everyone who is currently remote and has done a good job in the last 4 years will be forced to reapply and almost all will be rejected.

FactSet is laying people off to save money while simultaneously requiring people to return to the office and pay for all of the costs of people being in the office. Layoffs are occurring while dividends are increasing. The only office that is allowed to grow is Hyderabad.

looks like a textbook example of trying to force people to quit on their own, or letting go of people as they become more strict on enforcing rto. sc-mmy
