Job families make a huge difference, technology families are significantly higher. Location makes a difference too, but not as much as your job family. Your manager can show you the pay ranges if you ask them, the problem is they are very wide.

Given stock awards a couple of times that were $6k vesting over like 4 years.
I was told I was on track to becoming a 58/Sr. Manager IC before the layoff.
Now I have a new role in fintech, more than a step up from Schwab, still IC, remote, making $140k base, 15-20% bonus (depending on performance and company results etc), RSUs worth $60k vesting over 4 years.
