Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Why Migration or Replacing Old System takes decade if not eons?

Just curious new Joiner to file and Rank.
Most of team I interacted they have 2 parts legacy and new.
Legacy is not going anywhere and new isn't ready yet.
does company have lot of money to experiment.

oh poster " @rhh+1qWf6Ilr" - the company DOES have money to pay the EXECS more this year take a look at another post on this site or read Schwab's SEC filing - all disclosed there. STS is clogged but it is that way because the mo--n at the top can't manage themself out of a box

Imagine that you decide to move to Germany, how long do you think it would take for you to decouple from US? Schwab's dependency on legacy is that kind of problem. Schwab grew up with legacy, so not that easy to decouple.

Because half of the STS department is overhead and poorly organized staff.
Right now everyone’s working on capacity which is another slowdown. Get back to basics STS.

That’s silly. It’s way more than half.

The company has no money to do anything due to a large mistake with interest rates. Not to mention most teams are so siloed it takes an act of God to get them to work together and get something out the door.

You’re def new! Intern? Lol. This isn’t just a Schwab problem, this happens across any and all companies with legacy type hardware.
