When they do, we’ll hear it on Reddit.
They just announced it last week. Give it time.

When are they going to test skills?

Software and services are about to have their coding skills tested.
There seems to be competency trust issues from management.
1st a RTO compliance trap, then a skills challenge.

PS: in the title of the Freep article, it quotes Mary: 2024 'year of execution'
YEAR. OF. EXECUTION.
NOT SUBTLE.

Bonus round:

Section 2: Coding Challenges (70 points)

You will be presented with several coding challenges, each consisting of a problem statement and an input/output pair. You should write the code to produce the desired output for the given input(s). Please make sure that your code can handle various edge cases and is written in a clear, concise manner.

Problem 1: Write a function that reverses a string (20 points)
Input: str = "Hello"
Output: "olleH"

Problem 2: Implement Fibonacci sequence up to the nth term (25 points)
Input: int n = 8
Output: [0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8]

Problem 3: Write a function that determines if a given number is prime or
not (15 points)
Input: int num = 7
Output: true

"I wish I would have brought in the team we have now, earlier," Barra said. GM hired former Apple executive Mike Abbott in May 2023. "Mike Abbott has brought in an incredible team: hired people from Google, from Apple, from Meta and many tech companies. We’ve already revamped the software development process and more importantly the validation process." ~MTB

If you are in IT and were not a new hire from Google/Apple/Meta, you better be applying for jobs. MTB is not being subtle here. The perception from top down: You aren't cutting it.

Management is adept at measuring performance. They must know by now that performance is significantly lower than WFH.
The question is how they will react.

Will they capitulate and let us WFH again?

Or… will they blame employees for not working hard enough and threaten to punish them?

I think you know the answer.

These companies do have a choice.

Work for home, or work half as hard from the office. I'm mean choice is beautiful isn't it? They know that we know, they don't have the upper hand any longer. It's not so simple to replace workers these days, as people aren't dying to join your ranks. They're just dying, meaning people with normal heartbeats and pulses are still in short supply.

Good luck. We're the captain now.

Fear is making people insecure.
Please stop fighting each other.

Again, a complete inability to keep on point and produce anything of relevance. But you are surely quick on the draw for 7th grade "humor". I tire of you. Good day.

Congratulations! You managed to create an entire post with no misspellings or basic grammatical errors.

You are sure to make it off restroom cleanup duty real soon. A real up-and-comer, I can feel it in my bones.

"Yo've had limited success in your career"

How's that mtb boot leather tasting this morning?

No pertinent comment to the source article. Just a lame potshot. Typical gm-er.

Not sure what "yo've" means, but maybe my career hasn't yet ascended to those heights.
