14 Vision Centers got notice Monday January 29 that their last day would be on February 9. Less than 2 weeks notice. Are these employees going to be able to transfer to other Walmart vision centers? One of these locations is Russellville Kentucky. Does anyone know which other stores are closing their vision centers after February 9?

Well we are one. We are store 3831 in Portsmouth Va. there were three of us here and the dept manager (licensed) and one apprentice transferred. I was on part time after coming back from surgery complications when we were notified and we marked down everything in the department and into the dumpster it went. I am not interested to move to another location and I’m being offered severance but for about $10,000 less than I am calculating! Anyone else?
It's funny after reading the particular post from covington va vision center that I know exactly the feeling
I believe my Hwmd was the same 1 referred to in this post only I was in a pharmacy under their control. Walmart should look at the associate turnover under this director both pharmacy and vision centers. Never in my 41 yrs of being a pharmacist have I ever seen a superior treat people so poorly,
The demoralization, the way she belittled and badgers her associates should be a red flag for walmart.
I worked in the vision center covington va for 23yrs. We had a total of4 licensed in that center who all walked away feom their careers bx of out market director. The manager they brought in left in the middle of the work day bc of the HWMD we all loved our jobs loved our patients and had a full time dr. The center closed because we all left. The Dr quit bc we all left.vin hindsight we should have pursued her title legally instead of ours. I'm happy to say that our staff is once again I'm tact and working for pearle vision in roanoke va. Healthy work environment and enjoyable. Thanks foe the PTSD WE SUFFERED from our HWMD she's a 1 of a kind
I was told that if a vision center goes without an OD for 2 or more years and they are not making budget that they will indeed close the VC. I don't know if they will relocate associates. In the licensed states I'm sure they will transfer the LDO's because it is too hard to come by them. I feel sorry for those impacted by these decisions.
Covington Va closed last year.
There are a few closing in North Carolina. Still trying to get more specific details.
The people at the Russellville, KY location got an email with a list of locations that had at least 14 Vision Center locations closing. Still trying to figure out the other locations. Either way, Friday February 9 is the last day open for those 14 locations. I just wanted to know if they were offered another job in a nearby VC or forced to take severance. I’m in a store that rumor says may close it’s VC and I want to be somewhat prepared. I’ll update when I figure out the other locations.
Which others? How do you know it’s 14?
