They keep making their contribution until the severance period is over but you can opt into COBRA to keep the same plan for the rest of the year. However, Nielsen does not contribute anything under COBRA so you have to pay full price. You may be better off looking for coverage under Medicaid or a marketplace plan ( healthcare.gov ) for lower cost options
