Walmart minimum wage

So is Walmart minimum wage going up to 17.50 starting this pay period? Can someone explain this better.

No. That's the average pay according to the company. It's 2% as usual.

Raise pay by 10%, cut hours by 30%.

It’s all PR spin. Always has been. Always will be.

Instead of having the gumption and courage to fire and layoff folks like most companies do, they play a sick version of “hunger games”, reducing hours to as little as possible until folks quit.

No one who isn't management is getting a substantial pay raise. They issued a press release bragging about the average wage going up because associates are getting their normal 2% pay raise in February. This raises the average but it's not a big deal, it's just math and Walmart decided to brag about it. Probably so they would look like they aren't sc--wing associates over to give store managers a big raise.
