Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Should I be ready to leave?

I guess the writing is on the wall for me, I got a horrible new manager spring last year who actively works to discredit my experience or work. Ranked me with all 4s in the rating which I have challenged, if the rating gets changed is it worth for me to stay here? Should I accept the next offer my way? I don’t even know if I’m on a pip right now.

I was rated a 4 once.
I had weekly 1 on 1 regular meetings where my manager spelled out why I was a 4, and work goals to overcome the 4 rating.
The bad news was I was never going to overcome a 4 with this manager.

I did not get rated a 3 again until this manager was replaced by a new manager for my team. The new manager read over all of the documentation and said I am stopping this, because it is clear old manager did not like you.

If you think you have a good case and documentation to contradict what they presented to you, fight the 4. Otherwise, I would recommend looking for jobs outside of Citi.

not true. As a branch manager,
few years back, my branch was in "leaders circle" and I received a 3 rating from my "wonderful" manager as I was not her favorite. I was able to fight it and her manager changed it to a 2. It really was a waste of my time as salaries had already been decided and i did not get a large increase but if your job is on the line... I say go for it! Good Luck!

If you got 4s, you can be sure they have documentation to backup their ratings.

There are too many horrible and dishonest managers at Citi which is its problem. The problem won’t be fixed by efficiencies but by changing culture. Its culture will only be changed when these managers leave.

Forget about the layoffs. With 4s across the board you will be better off looking somewhere else.

PIPs are communicated in a meeting so you would know.

The result is calibrated across teams. To change result, managers have to renegotiate, which won’t be done.

Once you argue on ratings, you are the target.

Be ready to leave. All fights aren’t worth it. Only and ethics review will change the ratings and ethics only examines if a cause was due to you being part of a protected class. Only 10-20% of reviews get founded in the filer’s favor. And they can’t go off of heresay. The harm has to be documented.
