Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Huge cuts In Broussard Today

Cuts came out of nowhere. Tons of technical people, engineers with 10-20 years experience. Not new hires or old heads nearing retirement. Meat an potatoes technical people let go with no plans in place to deal with the work or expertise gaps.

Management looked dejected, couldn't answer any questions on how the work was going to get done. Basically said whats left will just have to figure it out.

It’s confusing what the strategy is and where.. from the town halls it seemed like engineering wouldnt be affected and that it wouldn’t be a “mass” layoff. Have a feeling other plants will be hit hard this coming week.

Classic Baker Hughes! No foresight, no long term continuity plan for skilled resources, and no real vision of what they want to be or how they want to get there…. Playing in as many sandboxes as they can without real commitment. It’s a real shame because it could have been an epic organisation. Feel bad for all you guys impacted. Keep your heads up there is a place out there that will value you and give you a pathway to personal success however that looks in your eyes.

Like the government at this point. The people that need to be let go are the ones making the decisions. The ones with no customer interaction or actual sales to their name that say things like “last year I did $100M in sales.” Nah, you actually didn’t do sh-t but get in our way.

Very sad. Hitting Rankin more yesterday. Experienced people. Back bone kinda folks. Supposedly in the name of simplifying Org charts but I’ve see the charts, as convoluted as they were prior. We hire VP’s so they can cut employees who actually do the work. Management team is a failure and I wonder if the intention is to drive down our efficiency so we can take some losses so they can justify selling off OFS

Yeah those guys who were laid off are a huge hit to the org. Maybe all the new managers will pick up the workload?

Very well planned and executed. It is pretty clear that management doesn't have a clue and the KPI is to cut X people full stop. And the "figure it out" requirement gets just cascaded down from one layer of management to the next and eventually to the few employees left :-).
