Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

HR should seriously be considered to be let go.

A very useless group of smug people who put forth more effort to not help you than any other group in Citi.

All I’ve ever gotten from them is busted links or links to FAQ’s which have nothing to do with my initial question.

HR responds in accordance to the level of which they care, which is none.

If there’s any one do nothing group that adds no value, to be let go, HR would be the place to start.

They should layoff HR by 80% easily.
No one would notice at all.

I’d cut HR by about two thirds.

Exactly. They make it sound like everything is in the FAQ on the websites, none of which is user friendly and the searches bring about all type of old and new documents, and you have to click a link within a link only to end up in a very old pdf document. And you read the whole pdf and the pdf only contains vague references, and you end up finding the answer in a pdf that was about something completely different.

Seems like an HR nerve has been struck, which is often the case when the truth is spoken.

If you can read from a script you can work in HR. Mindless robots. HR is the most useless department at any company.

Ignore the person who does the name calling. Its someone who goes from post to post in succession insulting people for a reaction. They probably are not even a Citi employee.

The system is designed to make you give up and go away.
Classic Citi HR story.

I had a question for which I could not find the answer. I posed the question to HR via email. No response after a week. Asked again via email and personal teams. No response for a week. Tried again and got out of office message. I barked up the chain and engaged their manager. Rinse, repeat, no answer. Went up another level.

Eventually I got a reply which said…..

“you’ve been given the answer already. The FAQ page, third answer from the bottom, go to the second link shown there. 2/3 the way down on that next page, you’ll see another link which opens up a PDF. Page 4 of the PDF gives you a link for the support you are looking for”

Ok, so yeah the link from within the FAQ takes me to a page alright, which has more than a dozen of other links. Most of which opens a PDF some of which are 50 pages long. So just clicking on link within links within link and read every single PDF offered. Sure yeah eventually one day you’ll find your answer. If this is as good as it gets, then they need to go as they offer no benefit to having them.

They don’t work. They are the guys and gals that sign 1 hr and sign off for the rest of the day and check back their email at 4pm to send you some one sentence non answering bullsh-t. You tell them days for this or that and they mess it up and 2 days later someone completely different picks up and then a third and the first two on vacation.

It makes sense.
Citi already has a mechanism in place that vets resume, so HR does not have to worry about having to do anything in that aspect. The layoff process is probably even template driven. HR is certainly not going to act as your advocate with 3rd parties either such as insurance, dental, 401K etc….its up to YOU as the employee to fight those battles.

So to sum it up:
They are not your advocate.
Citi has things in place so HR does not have to do anything:
a.) automated resume vetting
b.) chatbots
c.) all you get is either busted links or a link to the FAQ.

So what value do they actually bring to the table?
You could let the bulk of them go and outsource what you need as you need it rather than keeping a large number of them who just sit around doing nothing.

For the only thing they are of some use is to fire people, because not even at hiring they can excel.

Post ID: @ver+1qNjICAc Exactly. If employees are expected to do their own research on internal Citi websites, but still can Not find the answers, then what good is having Citi HR employees except for the fact that they collect free paychecks and do NO Work on the Shareholders' = Svckers' dime ??? It's long past time to FIRE Citi HR. Employees are directed to Chatboxes, AI and internal Websites, sometimes with broken Links anyway !

Maybe do some research first on the internal website instead of asking d-mb questions

All of my interactions (over a decade) with HR have been horrible. No one seems to even understand our own policies or where to go to have a question properly answered. Its a shame when you have to learn from policy directory, comprehend it, then teach your HR rep how to do their job. Now, it's recommended that you submit an HR ticket instead of speaking to someone, shop it makes it easier for them to give you a half-donkey answer.

I think they need to be around for the layoff paperwork I guess. After that, I don’t see why not. They already direct you to the HR chatbot. Just keep enough HR people around to keep the chatbot updated. You can temp contract HR out as needed going forward.
