Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Redundancy payments in Ireland?

Are Avaya just paying the legal minimum (statutory) to people laid off in Galway, or is there a package?

Ireland has a lot of runway.

WHY?

#1 -- India will never be able to come up to speed and fully replace

#2 -- Not so easy to pull off a US type of game to exit.

It still hurts. But your government insulates you a bit (and you are wicket talented so India can't easily take)

How many people are being laidoff in Ireland?

"this is laid out in your contract of employment with Avaya."

It absolutely is not. If you think it is, check your contract again. There is no mention of any entitlement to enhanced severance.

Avaya are paying Enhanced packages in Ireland,

Avaya or Nortel, Depending on what company you were hired from. Nortel was a additional 5 weeks per year of service, i believe Avaya was 3 weeks per year of service. this is laid out in your contract of employment with Avaya.

Correct. That was before Apollo activated SS Special Projects with Alix Partners.

2023 was lining things up to qualify for the bankruptcy con.

2024 is a new game to find a way to scale back for the very least amount of money.

My redundancy package was almost double compared to the German standard according to the law. Yeah, took the package last year and ran ... not looking back, no regrets so far ...

My redundancy package from last year was well above local award, and by a fair bit,ie almost double.

Will this last and be available on all regions, probably not. I was not in USA or Europe.

Comment on what you know.
There has been a package for every redundancy to date.

If they only pay the statutory, which is peanuts, then there is no reason to stay - even if on an old Nortel contract.

Thank you AM for the Disgusting Place To Work...

Apollo is who dictates, via their go to form Alix Partners. And they will refuse to pay a drop more than what the law forced them to pay. In fact, they spend most of their time trying to pay less and skirt the law.
