I would like to know how much the severance pay was for the previous layoffs and how long did they stay at Nielsen before they were laid off. Also did you get any chance to negotiate the pay.

don’t inform Nielsen if you find a new job while collecting severance, you don’t owe them ANYTHING. it’s too many people for them to keep track or investigate if a former employee is working while on severance.
no, you are supposed to tell them when you get a new job. I have no idea how they’d know as long as you keep quiet and keep it off social media.
If u get a new job before severance ends , do u still get the full severence
My experience matches what the previous poster said. I was a 2023 layoff. You get the next two weeks pay plus 2 weeks for every year. I had been there 20+ years and it was capped at 6 mos. Plus 100% bonus. I did not negotiate.
A tip: If you have FSA, SPEND IT. Once your payroll severance is done, the company takes it back. But you will not have to pay any portion back. I have nearly $3k in my FSA but I’ve only technically paid a little bit into it since the year just started. But it’s still all mine. So for US workers who put money into an FSA, go to those doctors. Stock up on FSA approved things (sunblock! OTC meds! tamp-ns! maternity care! etc). And yearly checkups cost you nothing, (just be aware of not covered bloodwork etc). Prescription sunglasses! Whatever! Go spend it when you get laid off.
Last round: first two weeks was a freebie. After that 2 weeks for every year you worked at Nielsen. Non negotiable. You either sign it or work with an attorney.
