I don’t know how people have survived for 7 years

I was at ford for 8 years. Had 7 managers changed and I am still in the same position. had top performer 3 times in the 8 years but nothing changed.
it was dreadful and makes you wonder why would you put effort sometimes...
if you don't have a good direct boss, you are sc--wed!
@jih You must be one of the armchair engineers with the only skillset in PowerPoint, setting up meetings and calling the supplier when you need some engineering done.
The company is full of fools like yourself, now be gone and take some skill development classes so you can catch up to the rest of the industry.
@hrf, if you are having a problem finding another job, it’s probably because you aren’t that skilled. You should stop biting the hand that feeds you and say thanks to Jim for keeping you employed while you sit at home and surf the internet all day.
We su-k, unfortunately I have to be part of this nonsense until I find another job to get out of here. The newer generation might not be able to understand this if they were not employed back then. Too bad if this is the case as all you had is Grade-C executive leadership since then, let alone the mediocre lower management non-do'ers that have the inability for self thought and decision making.
I can still recall a time when we had Allan Mulally's true leadership were we all functioned as one team to work for one goal. Go read his biography where he talks about the exec's bugging his office, the conference rooms, etc.
Bluntly stated is that all the "id--ts" that came after destroyed the great organization he set up. Hard to believe that we always had people offering up their support, worked hard to one goal and was so enthusiastic back then.
I can only make my comparison to watching a PBS special Detroit Back In Time, showing the once great city of Detroit from 70 years ago. So awesome to see it, but reality smacks hard to current conditions. No one can deny this is what happened to us (Ford) after he left.
I compare driving down 7 Mile Road and the ghetto conditions to what has happened to the team collaboration we once had, career outlook for "ALL" the working engineering professionals, non-DEI growth opportunities, competent leadership at all levels and an understandable company direction for the workers and the shareholders
All we have left now is the hopes of moving the jobs quickly enough and capturing some kind of meager cost savings by displacing these jobs to lower cost labor.
