Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoff or just rumors

I see everyone posting about layoffs in February as much as 18k people. If that’s the case wouldn’t this have to be by law reported publicly due to the WARN act? I believe the company is supposed to give 60 day notice , the only thing I see on the list is about 673 people (at least in California) will be LR’d in March. Unless they’re doing it in other countries.

If that is true that they keep you on for approximately 60 days to look for a job, does severance start after that?

Between 10-15% of all headcount will go in 2024. Underperforming Market segments will be exited. If you are an engineer of any type then be even more concerned.

you get paid for 60 days to do nothing, so that's your lieu for the WARN 60 days notification. sneaky, right?

It's happening. Notification date Feb. 15, exit date April 15.

Cisco does maintain semi-large offices outside of California. So you might want to check other states: NY, IL, etc.

And remember that if take a severance then you’re classified as “voluntary resignation” and thus the WARN Act doesn’t apply.

they give you 60 days notice. if they notify people on feb. 15th, then they will keep you on until april 15th or a later date and allow you to look for other opportunities whether that be at Cisco or not.
