Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Why do we stay??

Enough is enough!! Do we have to continue to be strung along until d-day?? I'm out...F this BS. I'm not gonna train the person who will replace me. Bringing my 25 years of experience to the competition

I don’t have a long tenure. I’m ready to move on, and I’m applying for jobs. The only reason I’m still here is the job market out there is HARD! You will see hundreds of applicants for a decent position…so until I get an offer or my number is called, I’m staying here, unwillingly

Poster is right below, the tech job market is a NIGHTMARE right now. Start looking whether or not you have severance. The average time to find a new job rn is like 5 months.

Take that severance though...just barely work. spend your time finding something else ; )

It’s really not a lot of severance, unless you’ve been here a long time. Most people in my department are five years or less. Most maybe three years. At two weeks a year, that’s nothing. If you’re in tech, in particular, start looking asap. It is brutal out there and tech is being sla-ghtered right now. These garbage companies post record profits then still decimate the work force and are still considered great places to work. What a toxic sh---y industry to be in, and Nielsen will be applauded for trashing thousands of jobs due to their own incompetence.

To all of you long time vets, 20 yrs +, DO NOT QUIT. I know, it's misery. But you worked your tails off for way too long to let Nielsen off the severance hook that easy. Make your departure painful for them. Man, I played a game of chicken with my low life managers for years! Since I was a money maker, they knew I wasn't just going to walk empty handed. They tried to push me out day by day but I refused to budge. I was gonna get a nice long vacation - AT NIELSEN'S EXPENSE. And that's what happened. The day finally came when they decided to just bite the bullet and can me. For me, it was like taking a big ole cr-p. Lol. Just such a relief when all was said and done.

The call was scare tactic, hoping people will leave, which will make their exit cheaper. Perhaps the leadership bonus will be larger the more they save. Stay for the severance if you can weather a layoff. Fights go on as long as they have to. If not, do what's right for you.

Be smart, let them lay you off. You have six months of severance. Just do the absolute minimum to get by until then, but don’t quit. Make them pay you.

There’s life after Nielsen. I have been in your shoes before and was let go during the first round of layoffs. However, in my case, I didn't have to deal with the stress of knowing that I would be let go in the future. It was more of an unexpected surprise. I took advantage of my severance pay and enjoyed some time off before finding another job. It turned out to be the best thing I could have done because I am now working for a company that pays me more and has a much better work environment than Nielsen's stressful and toxic one. So, don't lose hope and consider this as an opportunity to explore new possibilities and find a better place to work. I wish you all good fortune on whatever journey life takes you.

oh it would be so much fun to see commercial teams 'transitioned' to other locations. same for engineering, product teams, and who knows what else. The greed is profound.

I agree. They drop a bo-b in an attempt to be transparent. But the message delivery was terrible and then the CEO was over and out! At the very least a plan should be shared so that most of the company's globally workforce does not just sit and wonder when they will be impacted. While there is likely a framework of a plan (some areas more than others) it's all secretive. I suspect given the way this leadership team operates that there is not quite yet a solid end to end plan. It will take a very very long time to move everything over. Is Commercial going to India or Mexico? Are there any functions not impacted? If so those appropriate teams should be told so. No clarity. None. Zip. So what is there to ask Karthik next week? There is not a stitch more that will be shared with anyone. Get those resume's in order.. this place is not worth it anymore.

I’m at 28 years. I feel just as you do. Where I’m at in life, I do not want to start over but will have to.
