Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Im having anxiety and trouble sleeping

Performance evaluation seems to have come out; was told I was "inconsistent" and the feedback is mixed.

Does this mean im about to get fired? Should I start interviewing outside immediately? My mental health isnt great and im not sure what to expect.

"Huge headcount reductions >5,000 in NA are coming 1-3 months away."

You can never count on statements like these...and the kicker is...they only have to be right once for people to think statements like this are worth something. Either way, for your own sanity start looking. I'm always looking. It could be sunshine and rainbows for me and I'd still be looking. This puts you in the drivers seat of your career. Think of yourself as a mercenary that provides value and goes where they are treated best. The big game employers try playing with you is making you think you need them more than they need you. Not always the case, and if it is...this is a fixable situation.

This is a no brainer, if you think the writing is on the wall, start looking for other employment! Why do you have to ask random people on a blog what to do?
As the for your mental health, use your Ford health care to talk to some about your negative feelings.
Again, this is a no brainer!

You need to know that you're not alone. We aren't necessarily suffering like you are or dealing with the same circumstances, but as Ford employees we're all subject to the same conditions that you are. I was told in private that cuts are often based on roles and responsibilites, and not necessarily performance. Based on what I know about people who were released, this seems to be true. Just do your best and prepare for the worst, and stop browsing this site if you have the kind of anxiety you've indicated. This site is mostly gossip and rumors, with very few facts that actually apply to everyone. At the end of the day, just know that there are literally ten's of thousands of Ford employees that basically feel like you do in one way or another. One last comment that might help make you feel better- two decades ago I was feeling like you do ... two decades ago.

Performance reviews haven’t mattered in the past. I got good performance reviews. And raises. Almost 10 years. No terrible feedback that would indicate my job was in jeopardy.

Yet in June, I lost my job.

Why would being inconsistent be an indicator of being gone? No evaluation can be perfect. Inconsistency can be reversed. If you were told you were insubordinate that would definitely point to future unemployment.

I think it’s tough to say. Ask yourself, are you reacting to only the negative feedback? In PRs you receive both because nobody is perfect.

Management has told you, in a subtle way, that they want you gone. It’s time to start interviewing outside Ford. It’s easier to get a job while employed then after you get laid off.
