Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

NorCal and PNW traffic to be rerouted.

Bulldozer guy here. I didn’t want to post this until I got confirmation from my HQ source but it’s official….my source was in meetings today and ALL traffic going through Northern California and the PNW will be rerouted and go through the south instead. Vena doesn’t see value in the PNW routes and said there’s “too many stops along the way”. This ultimately means ALL NorCal and PNW locations will be shutdown. The Canadiens or BN might be interested in the properties but who knows. Supposed to be effective early March. Albina will be bulldozed because the city wants waterfront property for new development.

Hopefully Portland developers are smarter than Denver developers. Supposedly when the Denver shop was sold. Developers didn’t realize how contaminated the soil was.

I think this was already discussed before. In order for any location to be shutdown and sold off, it would have to be agreed upon by the board and a few other parties. Vena cannot just do it because he wants to. Let's take a stroll through reality for just a second and realize the area of Portland. That place is a sprawling sh!thole. Ok so you build businesses and condos in a place that no one really wants to be at because of the high crime rates. The article you posted is going on five years old. Do you have anything a bit newer than that? Or at the very least, an update that's less than a year old. The biggest thing about the whole idea is the resulting stock devaluation. That area alone has over 1000 track miles of coverage. Where's the traffic being rerouted to and from where? Vena wants the UP to be the industry leader. It'll be very hard to do that with properties being shutdown and sold off. If I were you, then I'd very highly consider trusting a different source. News like that can't be hidden from the public.

I have read in Portland, Oregon news that city and others want to build apartments/condos/parks once Albina rr yard is sold. It’s land by river to develop.
