Thread regarding IBM layoffs

How are Instana and Turbonomics doing in the market?

I'm wondering how the Instana and Turbonomic acquisitions are going. Are they successful? Instana is rated in the bottom left corner of the Gartner MQ. I've never heard of a single customer of mine buying either. IBM has a long history of failure in the ITSM and Application Performance Management market. Just think of all the acquisition disasters. The original Tivoli is now languishing in an Indian wasteland. Software Artistry, Candle Corporation, Cyanea, Big Fix, Maximo, Micromuse, Valient, Intelliden, the list of failures is endless. I know some parts of these acquisitions still survive, like the Omegamons, but I'd be interested to know if Instana And Turbonomic will join this list.

Instana is pretty good. They lost quite a few people after the acquisition but seem to be back on track. The roadmap is credible, it really only needs a few features and it would hang with the best. Turbonomic is very good indeed, if it integrated to IBM Cloud and Openshift better there would be a great end to end story. Add in Apptio’s Cloudability and I would say that’s market leading. Since they’re now all run by the same VP I actually have some belief in it.

IBM sc--wed up the Tivioli/Candle software. Not a good track record with this type of software.

Neither good or bad as I understand it. They are certainly better products than the Tivoli stuff, so there should be hope.
