Let's be real here, anybody who thinks he or she is safe now is incredibly naive. Yes, this round might be over, but all that means is that we'll get a few weeks if unlucky, and a few months if lucky to relax before the next round hits. We're past the point when layoffs were a rare occurrence. Now, they're something we have to learn to live with always.

Counterpoint: 2u is entering desperation mode. They will do anything - anything - to make the business appear to be profitable. At this point, they have nothing to lose. On one end of the spectrum, there is delisting and bankruptcy; on the other end, there is surviving long enough to sell to a private equity firm. They are not thinking about ICs AT ALL anymore - they don't care about anyone. So honestly, they could layoff people again with very little notice and in very little time.
I think it would be foolish of them to layoff more folks in weeks....you have to see if the measures you are taking are having a difference on the health of the business. I think if they are in a position where they need to scale back labor even further in 3 to 6 months by a significant number, then to me its clear that there is no reversing this spiral. Trying to remain optimistic but keeping a realistic view and taking actions to prepare for potentially losing my job.
