Anyone on the transition team with an October layoff scheduled think you're getting axed earlier? Anyone know how common it is to layoff earlier than the letters?

This may vary from country to country, seeing as labour laws do.

They can't do instant terminations can they? I thought they'd still have to give severance.

Unfortunately transitions are said to retractive in end date. It was written into the contract.
Count yourselves lucky not to get a welcome letter! Honestly!
A lot of people who were supposed to transition until April-June were told a couple of weeks ago that their last day is next week. Be prepared to depart at any time folks!
