It would be compassionate, if each of the speakers could speak from the heart instead of reading a script!
Why can’t we deliver to our customers?
Is it the policies of our execs?

That’s what Baker does, pretend everyone is too stupid to understand what they’re doing. Agree with the others, wait until it’s their name on the list! Except if they are high enough they will get much better packages.
Slow and steady wins the race
DT staff layoffs started in June 2023 and have been a regular monthly occurrence since then. I expect more and longer service outages to follow.
Any updates?
I am waiting impatiently to see when the usual commentvabout the 4 horsemen will appear in this site
Suprised they didnt get A.I. or Alexa or the ghost of Stephen Hawking to make the announcement! So welcome to the world of COI ( Cost Out Iniatives). To expand on a previous post:
A cost out initiative sounds like an intelligent, wondrously engineered euphemism for a leaner business model, born out of a team of people who when asked a direct, binary question will always respond with an arcane, elliptical answer.
However in the wider O&G industry, this is not fooling anyone. The customer base know that full time, experienced employees are being replaced by low rent, disposable contractors/Indian subcontinent employees, on an industrial scale. And we all know how that usually ends.
To the employee base, the phrase cost out initiative is in fact a dysphemism, not a euphemism. An unpleasant way of referring to a fellow human being as a cost that can be eliminated from a balance sheet without conscience or remorse.
As ever, someone will be making a quiet buck shrinking the employee base, until the day their name drops onto the RIF list……..
WTF is a “segment” in Baker parlance? PL and regions make sense.
I think the guys there (not Maria but the other two) seemed somewhat concerned as if they also received no reassurance about their own seat. Imagine being laid off at that level! It would be very hard to find a similar position. That is why I am so sympathetic towards these hot shots. I think honestly that they would not have been so concerned about redundancies if they knew for sure that they were going to be ok. In any case, to be announced at Maria's level the numbers must be substantial. Let's see what will be communicated tomorrow at the other townhalls. One thing is fo-e sure: the rumour mill is going to be very busy in the next few days and weeks!
Yes, it was poorly executed, but that seems to be the norm now.
Clearly the leadership can’t get a tune out of Baker and perhaps it’s time for a total clear out of those that are running the show.
Alas I can’t see that happening. They will stay in place until they have enough $’s in the bank and plenty of shares before they decide to ‘retire’.
And round and round it goes.
At least going after the ones who’ve got there purely for the fact they helped the diversity figures and the ones who climbed the ladder due to spectacular arslikhan
The reductions are not going to be focused on frontline employees. Most are reducing the upper middle management roles that were growing in number since Maria has been in charge. Other reductions are planned for support functions, finance, HSE, etc., It seems that they are going for higher pay employees not directly tied to revenue.
How many and from where?
What division?
The broadcast was so scripted and I felt like all the jargon didn't do anything to clarify what's going on.
