@36w5 what are you talking about? Do you even understand how regulated utilities work?

What’s the typical performance pay increase structure for salary? 3-5%?

When electric utilities adopt a major shareholder centric emphasis on value they are no longer the generous contributors to state's economies they once were and perhaps they should be stripped of all state and federal tax payer funded economic incentives since they are cutting jobs, wages and benefits. Wealth-fare is just more unnecessary malfeasance for the immensely wealthy, who are not in danger of missing a meal, struggling to keep a roof over their heads, or afford health insurance and prescription dr-gs. If electric utilities are going to invest less in the economies of the states they serve to further enrich out of state investors then the economic incentives offered to sustain jobs paying exceptional wages and benefits should cease to decrease the tax burden of state and federal tax payers being economically diminished to enrich major shareholders with state and federal tax payer funded wealth-fare.

The Alarming Statistics: Mental Health in the Utility Sector
Recent research has uncovered concerning trends regarding mental health among utility workers. According to a study, utility employees are the most likely to continue working despite experiencing mental illness, with nearly one-third (31%) having done so within the past year. This reluctance to take time off for mental health concerns points to potential stigma and inadequate support systems within the industry.

The same study revealed that a third (33%) of utility workers experienced increased anxiety over the previous year, while 26% reported excessive stress. These statistics highlight the urgent need for comprehensive mental health support strategies within utility companies.

Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms
Perhaps most concerning is how utility workers are managing their stress. The research found that 36% of utility employees are turning to unhealthy coping strategies, including increased consumption of unhealthy food and more frequent alcohol use. These behaviors can create cycles of deteriorating physical and mental health that impact both workplace performance and personal wellbeing.

@3697 The tangible value of the shear weight of our numbers is we know how to maintain and fix the institution. Top corporate officers only know how to exploit and break institutions to enrich themselves and their major shareholder peers.

Corporate America's top executives make up just 1.5% of the US adult population and their median total compensation for 2024 was around $17.1 - $18.9 million, up 7-9.7% from 2023. Julie Sloat (until Feb 2024) earning around $5.8M in 2023, while new CEO Bill Fehrman (appointed Aug 2024) took home approximately $13.26M for 2024. Not bad for working 5 months at AEP in 2024 . Something is horribly and unjustly wrong in Corporate America and the majority need to set things right because the executive minority cannot resist the shear weight of our numbers.

Still glad I left even with the changes. Stinks they finally recognized 8's deserve a bit more on the CIP side. BS it took them this long to see it. It still would not have kept there because Therace was such a witch. I have so much better managers now. Hopefully everyone that stayed is in a better situation than before.

Corporate America's lowest paid employees are its foundation and that foundation is failing under the massive load of Executive Compensation Packages and shareholder value. The structural integrity of any organization is its long tenure low paid employees, who make the company continue to function in spite of itself. Greed like erosion and water intrusion compromises the integrity of the foundation and unchecked causes complete structural failure. Engineers can validate the validity of this analysis. Long tenure low paid employees are the binding agent that counteracts the stressors that incrementally bring about catastrophic failure.

I'm taking all my money out of my 401k and stocks from this company before it vanishes and investing it in some sue-molly-ins. Sorry Bill, no matter how perfect the power is you can't compete with their ROI.

@351j Thieves are thieves whether they are running Day Care Centers in Minnesota or Corporations across America. Republicans hate it when anyone else steals from vulnerable people before they can. Republicans whine about the national debt when they are in the minority because someone else is profiting from the deficit instead of them. We the People are always the ones paying for Republicans and Democrats' malfeasance. Its about time we took back what has been stolen from us by disingenuous usurpers of both political stripes.

Why be frustrated at Corporate America or working at AEP, my guy?
Instead of worrying about being laid off these last 6 years I could have opened a daycare center in MN and pocketed millions. You all are really still on your soap boxes about cronyism, nepotism, and Republicans?

@34ym CEO scorecard so we can hold CEO accountable when we find his performance disappointing as stakeholders. Why are shareholders elevated above stakeholders? Do we live in America or the old Soviet Union? No communist oligarchy in America.

@34yf Employees need to have discretionary decision making on CEO compensation payout just as CEO has discretionary decision making on Employee's ICP payout. Accountability is a two way street and for far too long AEP has been a one way accountability dictatorship.

@34v7 What are the chances of Bill getting injured or ki-led while working at AEP? That is the difference between us and them. We put it all on the line to earn our pay and serve our customers knowing there are any number of variables that can cause a tragic outcome and we are lowballed on compensation while the corporate guys with no skin in the game rack profits off the table with both arms.

There are more employees seeking medical care for work stress related medical conditions and more employees retiring earlier than expected because of workload stress and toxic culture. As the CEO of the company he IS responsible for the health and well-being of his employees and he is failing us and creating unnecessary hardships for AEP employees' families. Short sighted leadership increases profits for AEP shareholders and decreases the value of employment for AEP stakeholders.

Can I just day as an employee of AEP, I hate this company. I know hate is a strong word but I really do hate this company.. I'm here for a pay check and that's it. I'm trying to do everything that is asked of me and nothing more. I may do a little bit here and there but nothing that cuts into my personal life. The company does not pay me for after hours work so they don't get it.
If Bill wants to sc--w all of us, figure I could do the same. Bill, I can do just enough to NOT get fired but not enough to cause me stress.

@34rw Ridiculously tone deaf memo. Par for the course. A death on the job isn't a disappointment. It's a tragedy. In fact, in any EOY recap, an emotionally intelligent leader would choose a word other than "disappointment."

We didn't cause anything you're 'disappointed' about. All of that was upper mgmt. You spent our bonuses hiring high-paid talking heads who won't be doing any real work anyway. Consultants are doing it.
Keep layering on patronizing insults though. If there's anything you're good at, it's not reading the room.

As employees, shareholders and customers we do not all endorse your corporate major shareholder centric emphasis on creating value because we are suffering far more than we are gaining as are our fellow employees and customers. Your lack of empathy for others shall be your downfall when others respond by prosecuting your crimes mercilessly. All reigns of tyranny come to an end and the oppressed always determine the end of their reign. The hour glass only holds so many grains of sand and your reign of tyranny is experiencing a rapidly diminishing existence. You have been offered opportunities to repent your sins and you have chosen self-indulgence over self-improvement. You own your outcome and its earthly and eternal punitive consequences. Indulgence and grace have their limits and you would be wise not to exceed them.

Numerous studies and sources indicate that an overemphasis on shareholder value is a significant systemic driver of employee burnout. The pressure to prioritize short-term profits often leads to corporate strategies that increase job demands and reduce employee resources, fostering an environment ripe for burnout.

While individual coping mechanisms and resilience play a role, experts largely view high rates of burnout as a powerful warning sign of systemic organizational imbalances, rather than an individual's failure to cope. Prioritizing employee well-being is increasingly seen not just as an ethical choice but as a business necessity for long-term productivity and talent retention.

We know what you are doing and how unhealthy it is for employees. Cease and desist or we are going to sue for deliberate wrongful harm created by criminal conspiracy. Often prosecuted under statutes like 18 U.S.C. § 371 (defrauding U.S.) or § 241 (conspiracy against rights). Act like criminals and you get punished like criminals by the people you are willfully and deliberately harming for personal gain.

They must be held accountable, if AEP is to endure and thrive. You and your big bags of cash are a arrogant affront to every employee and you shall be punished by the faithful, who shall not tolerate your Godless and faithless heresy.
