Medical WFH Accommodation

To those who successfully obtained a medical exception to work remotely:

How was the process? Did you receive pushback from HR? What documentation does Schwab require from your physician?

I got a medical accommodation. Submit the HR form first. They give you a 2 page form for your doctor to complete. They don't have to disclose too much about your medical issue. They doctor has to make an accommodation recommendation which can be " work from home". Then HR contacts your manager to make sure they approve. That's it. And it has to be renewed every 12 months.

I was explicitly told ADA accommodations were not going to be honored. I submitted my reasoning in the exception request and it was denied. Hopefully you have a more supportive team.

I haven’t, but those I know who have report that it is follow the instructions and submit. HR is a binary response - they do not want to debate with employees.

However, they will work with providers and argue that there are on-site accommodations like different chairs.
