Anyone planning to just not show up? How long until they fire you?

You mean you don't want to come to the Westlake office and:

Spend your lunch walking between the cafe and your desk? (relaxing in there is just for middle management, get back on the phones)

Park in a garage that's being held up by sketchy scaffolding?

Sign into Teams meetings and listen to mic feedback from the other attendees sitting right next to you?

Visit our NEW 'movement center'? (Hope you don't need to get back on the phones)

Don't be shocked if there was an acquisition offer in the works - maybe even for just the banks -

@uaq+1q9EOhpe - 100% — Walt had an emotional meltdown b/c those who said they would come in 3 days/week never showed up. Instead of rationally dealing with those particular employees and their managers as a performance issue, Walt just got lazy and emotional and said "F you all" — I'm retiring and getting my $65M - get your a$$es in the office. I don't care if it costs MILLIONS to do it - including rehabbing 1 sinking office building in Southlake and finishing a 4th building at Westlake - plus the property taxes on opening the additional building, plus the expense of additional utilities, extra security, equipment, etc. etc. etc. all while the company is strapped for cash due to the incompetence of our EC who made really bad investment decisions — though of course it's "not that and only about the fed rates" - give me a break) (and that's only at Westlake).

Then have the absolute audacity to say "Oh gee wh-z we HAD to disclose we were laying off thousands back in June b/c it was such an expense savings and thus a MATERIAL event we had to IMMEDIATELY disclose…" And we can't give a timeline, what groups will be affected — absolutely zero because of fictitious "disclosure mandates."
The expense of the layoffs combined with RTO all washes that "huge expense savings" out — just absolute BS lies — so anytime leadership says "Merrr…. we can't tell you b/c of all of these disclosures and regulations" — we're highly regulated — (exact quote from MD of my org). Bunch of BS. Provide me the citations of these "disclosure mandates" - and in this context, materiality is discretionary and not required since it wasn't an expense reduction given the above. And a hint to EC?? THAT is why we all say you are not transparent — we DON'T need MORE f'n "town halls" so you can spew the above and show boat (and show your f'n boat and the vaca you went on in the South of France last year and boasting about the Wharton classes you'll be attending — know your f'n audience) - we just want the truth and nothing that starts with "C" - culture, collaboration, it's all BS and we all know it and the "culture" will continue to be toxic. Sorry Walt and Rick, it's not 1960 and you are most definitely NOT Don Draper and Roger Sterling - you are ki-ling this company which makes me wonder if you are not doing this to get a sweet acquisition deal? Sorry for the vent, but this is all that's been swirling in my brain.

At the Holiday Party I talked to more than a dozen people that said they aren't coming in. January is going to be fun 🍿

I am not going in, I am taking a stand. I am sick and tired of the shenanigans that RTO has brought up. It is just sad really.

Oh wait, I have a reason not to go in, I turned in my badge, laptop and access, but I am still employed till Jan 5th? Does this mean I have to stand in the Parking Lot? :)

Not going back in. Manager and team isn't located in same location and manager told me he has discretion and to continue WFH even though I didn't get an exemption.

@1cog+1q8hEwKJ For them it was always more about the power trip than rational planning.

Nice planning! You all have to be in the office 1/2. Oh wait....... Damn we don't have seats for all of you.

They’re going to push the date for at least some. No room at the inn.

When they have to let some stay remote it is likely they won’t enforce it for others.

A number of us (I know of at least three dozen in STS alone) aren’t going in. How many stand firm is unknown but I think it is more protesting than not. Those in the office are going to drink a lot of coffee and take up smoking.

They gave me a delay because they ran out of seats in Denver. I think 6 months extra at home for many people in service.
