SO lumen is ready for a black swan event. As I recall they nearly caused a huge outage a few years back and they kind of hush hushed the the root cause and blamed the firmware on a router. The company is falling apart internally and pretending like they are stable growth company.

When mainstream media starts staying things like this, it's a clear warning.

“so the layoff site is for people who have not been laid off?“

Correct once you’re gone you’re gone.

All likely due to the government asking for faster disclosure and remediations for cyber breaches or other critical infrastructure outages that can affect at the national scale. Yup, Lumen still covers a lot of territory!

I remember Centurylink/Lumen having a major outage in 2019/2020 and one of them lasted weeks and they blamed it on a bad network card or something.

Now they hired the guy from Rogers who was there when Canada had its biggest blackout event ever.

Last comment is spot on.

I've worked here for 30+ years and I've never seen them prepping for emergency comms like they are right now.

"wtf are you ba----g on about mate?"

If you don't know, you either don't read your email or not an employee.

It's a new app or system to reach employees in the event of an emergency. They're getting prepared for something coming, everyone should be doing the same. 2024 should be interesting.

Why does Lumen need an emergency communication system?

Expecting a blackout?
