Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I’m tired of interviewing and getting ghosted

I've been trying to find a new job for months. I have no problems getting interviews, but more often than not, I get ghosted afterward. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I don't expect to receive an offer after each interview/set of interviews but I do think it should be common courtesy to at least send an email to the person you are rejecting and say "Sorry, but..." Am I wrong in expecting that?

Post ID: @2acr+1q2PbBed : That's stupid. Do you now how many reasons there are for not hiring someone? Competition nowadays is insane - number of jobs either stayed the same in some countries or shrank in others. But number of candidates shot up many times in the past 20 years due to the great "globalization", i.e. "the great influx of cheap labor". So being bad at interviews is by far not the only reason for not getting a call back...

You must SU-K at interviewing BUT excel at resume writing!

Just my advice here, ALWAYS expect to be ghosted. Citi has absolutely some of the worst recruiters out there. From my time looking there, I can't tell you how many of the same form "info mining" emails I received from them. They will only get back to you if you are a candidate. Sorry for the brutal honesty but its the way it goes there and many other organizations. Good luck.

In many/most cases, they already have a candidate in mind, meaning you had no chance of getting the job in the first place.

Are you 22 years old :D Ghosting has been around in finance for as long as I can remember. This is how the industry operates - and it is getting worse every year, because the pool of candidates is getting larger, but the number of jobs is getting smaller. Globalization at its finest :D
